SML Chamber honors local businesses

The Smith Mountain Lake Regional Chamber of Commerce handed out its 2010 business awards on Jan. 21 at its ninth annual dinner at The Waterfront Country Club. Roy Enslow of Bridgewater Marina & Boat Rentals received the Norma Jean Teass Award for community leadership.

The Small Business of the Year award went to Print-n-Paper, owned by Terry Schoonover, and Kroger was named Large Business of the Year. Excellence in Marketing went to Hot Shots Family Fun Center, owned by Jeff Schott. Restaurateur Gil Smith was honored as Entrepreneur of the Year; the Customer Service Award went to Shawn Lin of Chopsticks Restaurant.

In addition to recognizing the work of area businesses and individuals, including those serving as Chamber Ambassadors, and kicking off the 2010 business year, the dinner allowed an opportunity to introduce the new board of directors and to thank outgoing ones: Ted Puzio, Southern State Electric; Michelle Aznavorian, A Shade Brighter; Ernie Hoch, Trinity Property Services; and Debbie Coates, Wells Fargo.
