Realtor earns new designation

Realtor earns new designation

Jane Sullivan Horne, Realtor with Prudential Waterfront Properties, has been awarded the Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) designation by the Council of Residential Specialists, the largest not-for-profit affiliate of the National Association of Realtors.

Realtors who receive the CRS designation have completed advanced courses and demonstrated professional expertise in the field of residential real estate. Fewer than 38,000 Realtors nationwide have earned the credential.

Sullivan Horne has been in real estate for more than 23 years and is one of Prudential Waterfront Properties' top producers. She is a member the National Association of Realtors, Virginia Association of Realtors, Roanoke Valley Association of Realtors and Smith Mountain Lake Regional Chamber of Commerce.

In addition to receiving multiple awards from the RVAR, Sullivan Horne has earned both the certified Fine Homes Specialist and the Resort & Recreation professional designations and has placed in Prudential's Chairman's Circle five consecutive years.

Real estate group receives Distinguished Service Award

Lake Team Realty has been awarded the Distinguished Service Award by the Roanoke Valley Association of REALTORS for the third time in four years. The award was presented at the Dec. 11 RVAR installation breakfast.

Lake Team Realty was one of four firms to receive the award and the only firm from the lake area. Qualifiers must meet a set of standards in higher education; attendance at industry seminars; association involvement in committee work, the Virginia Association of REALTORS policy and advocacy boards; longevity; and community service.

Consideration also is given for agents within the firm who have earned individual industry designations.

Three REALTORS earn Short Sales certification

John Jones with RE/MAX Lakefront Realty and Jo-Ann and Wayne Van Vechten of Long and Foster Realtors have earned the nationally recognized Short Sales and Foreclosure Resource certification. The National Association of REALTORS offers the SFR certification to REALTORS who want to help both buyers and sellers navigate transactions, as demand for professional expertise with distressed sales grows.

The certification program includes training on how to qualify sellers for short sales, negotiate with lenders, protect buyers, and limit risk, and provides resources to help REALTORS stay current on national and state-specific information as the market for these distressed properties evolves.
