Brian Muelenaer has been named vice president of operations for Smith Mountain Building Supply. Muelenaer, whose career spans more than 34 years in the building materials industry, replaces Bill West, who will retire at the end of July.

"I'm very excited to join the Smith Mountain Building Supply family. My mission will be to continue building our reputation on serving the needs of our customers with quality, integrity and service. On behalf of the entire Smith Mountain Building Supply team, I would like to thank Bill West for his leadership and many contributions over the years, and we wish him a very happy retirement."

Muelenaer, a native of Delaware, graduated from Delaware State University with a bachelor's degree in business. He and his wife, Linda, reside in Roanoke and have two children.
