A wee bit o’ fun

Several lake-area restaurants will be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with special Irish meals, drinks and music.

At Jonathan’s Restaurant, chef Chris Mushall plans to serve homemade braised corned beef short ribs paired with kraut and Irish brews on March 17. He will also prepare a pot of Irish stew. When asked if he would use lamb in the stew, Mushall replied, “My mother would kick my behind if I did not!”

The Landing will host its annual St. Patrick’s Day Party in the bar area on March 13 with drink specials and live entertainment by Tim Martin. On March 17, chef Bruno Silva will prepare several Irish specialties, including Guinness stew and fish and chips.

The Blackwater Café will decorate for the occasion and offer special Irish beers on March 17. In addition, chef Mark Crim will offer Shepherd’s Pie, corned beef and cabbage and a seafood medley of oysters, prawns and fish on St. Patrick’s Day.

On March 17, Benjamin’s at The Pointe owner Ben McGehee will have several of his family’s traditional Irish recipes on the menu, including corned beef and cabbage, Shepherd’s Pie and Irish Cream Chocolate Mousse Cake. Patrons are encouraged to wear green for the restaurant’s second St. Patrick’s Day Party.

Finz Bar & Grille will host a party on March 17 with Irish music, dancing, food and drink specials. There will be Irish beer "and the indoor and outdoor fireplaces will be on," said Rob Arigo, the restaurant’s owner/operator.

The owners of the Bluebird Bakery & Grill, who are also of Irish descent, will offer specials throughout the day on March 17, including green eggs and fried tomatoes for breakfast. For lunch and dinner, the menu will include corned beef and cabbage as well as numerous Irish desserts and drink specials. The evening also will include live music by Tom & Dave.

The chef at Fallon’s Pub and Grill will be serving up a variety of Irish food on March 17. The bar will also offer drink specials in honor of St. Patrick’s Day.

Hot Shots Family Fun Center will host a St. Patrick's-themed party on March 13 featuring live music by Dragonfly.
