The Virginia Dance Academy put on a performance of "How the Dancing Grinch Stole Christmas" on Jan. 3 after it was postponed from Dec. 19 because of snow. There were 23 performers in the show, including owner Nicole Servidio.

The academy performs the "Grinch" every year to help raise funds for its scholarship program. No child is turned away for lack of funds, said Servidio. The performance gives the academy students a chance to dance in front of an audience, use props, and learn show layouts, costume changes and how to be a team player.

The academy will perform "Cinderella" for the scholarship fund in May. To join and be a part of the performance, call 721-0777 or 580-1021. Students are divided by three age groups: 3-to-6 years, 6-to-10 years and 9 years-to-high school seniors.
