Bethlehem to offer introductory course on Christianity

Bethlehem United Methodist Church will present The Alpha Course, a 10-week introduction to the Christian faith, beginning Wednesday, Jan. 20 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the church on Virginia 122 in Moneta.

The Alpha Course is designed to answer questions such as: Is there a God? Who is Jesus? Does God heal today?

The course, which originated in London, includes weekly video sessions featuring Nicky Gumbel, founder of The Alpha Course and currently vicar at Holy Trinity Brompton in London. The course is open to anyone interested in finding out more about the Christian faith in a relaxed, low-key atmosphere.

Each of the evening sessions begins with an informal dinner at 6 p.m., followed by a video and ending with small group discussions. There is no charge for The Alpha Course, but there is a voluntary contribution for the meal.

For more information, call (703) 309-6149 or come to the introductory dinner on Jan. 20. There is no obligation to continue after the introductory session. Reservations for the dinner are requested; call the church at 297-7957 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. or register online at www.bethlehemunitedmethodist.org.
