Still time to sign up for SML Triathlon
Annual event will be held May 5 at Smith Mountain Lake State Park.
It's last call to register for the annual Appalachian Power SML Triathlon. The event, to be held Saturday, May 5, begins with a 750-meter swim through the lake at the SML State Park followed by a 20K cycling leg and then a 5K run.
Registration is due by May 2 at setupevents.com. Individuals will pay $80; relay teams will pay $135. Registrants who are not members of USA Triathlon will pay an additional $12.
The triathlon, a USA Triathlon-sanctioned event, is limited to the first 500 registrants. Participants will have 2 1/2 hours to complete the course. Visitors are welcome to watch the event.
The triathlon benefits Virginia Amateur Sports, a Roanoke-based nonprofit that promotes access to sporting events, and The ALS Association.
