But which is right for your vacation?
If your stay at SML is short and sweet, a night or two at a nearby hotel is a quick and easy choice. Opt for a bit more luxury with a weekend at a charming bed and breakfast. For longer stays and a full SML experience, vacation rentals give guests more control and flexibility.
Many visitors are drawn to the lake for its home-away-from-home feel. A waterfront house or cottage rental provides seclusion, space and instant water access. Some rental properties have multiple units or adjoining guest houses, perfect for large family or group gatherings. Numerous local real estate businesses as well as Web sites specialize in matching renters to vacation properties.
Visitors seeking an all-inclusive experience should check out one of the lake’s resorts, Bernard’s Landing or Mariners Landing. Both offer easy water access, fine dining, meeting space and plenty of recreation options. Most importantly, both locations have personnel who are eager to help their guests get the most out of their SML trip.
Perhaps the best way to make the most of the water is to stay aboard a boat. Many lake marinas offer houseboat rentals – fully equipped for a real on-the-water experience. Or, enjoy the sound of the lapping shoreline from a camp site on the water’s edge. Waterfront campgrounds are a popular choice for SML guests.
