Blackwater Yatch group hands out awards
2010 racing season begins in March.

The Blackwater Yacht Racing Association recently held its annual awards banquet at The Waterfront Country Club. Commodore Gil Miekina thanked the board and BYRA members for their contributions that helped make for a successful sailing season. He also presented a commendation to Marcie Richardson and the Zahn family of Pelican Point for their support and introduced Pete Phillip, fleet captain, who made the following awards:
Spring series, first for fleet one was Pete Phillip, second was John Breckenridge and third was Edgar Cliver. For fleet two, first: Kirk McGuire, second: Des Runyan and third: Ken Whitt. For fleet three, first: Don Shelton, second: Miekina and third: David Sweet.
For the fall series, first for fleet one was Breckenridge, second was Udo Gietl and third was Edgar Clibourne. For fleet two, first: Runyan, second: Whitt and third: Bob Gearhart. For fleet three, first: Carol Perdue, second: Sweet and third: Miekina.
For the overall season, Phillip won first in fleet one, Runyan was first in fleet two and Miekina was first in fleet three.
Breckenridge was presented with the Commodore's Trophy for his many contributions to the BYRA racing program in his leadership positions.
The BYRA racing season will begin again in March, will run through May, resume in September and finish in October, 2010.
