SMAC's Fine Arts Scholarship deadline approaching

The deadline for applying for the Smith Mountain Arts Council's annual Fine Arts Scholarship is March 19. High school seniors who attend Staunton River and Franklin County high schools, a private school or are home schooled are encouraged to apply. Students must live in the area covered by either of the public high schools.

To qualify, students must be dedicated to pursuing a full-time course of study at a two- or four-year accredited college, community college or university in the performing arts, visual arts, or any other art-related curriculum.

Students must register as a full-time freshman and carry a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester. For students attending a community college, they must indicate a fine arts specialization at the time of registration to qualify.

Up to $1,000 for tuition will be awarded to each recipient. SMAC may grant multiple awards.
