The Landing closing temporarily to repair water damage
The Landing Restaurant at Bernard's Landing will temporarily close, beginning Monday, March 15, so repairs from water damage can be made.
Owner Tiffany Silva said there is damage, likely caused by snow, to the dining room ceiling. A deck above the restaurant will be repaired and its floor drains replaced. Silva said she expects to reopen the first weekend in April.
The restaurant's cooking class scheduled for March 14 will be held, but the March 25 class will be rescheduled. The St. Patrick's Day festivities on March 14 will go ahead as planned, said Silva. Live entertainment in the bar will be provided by Tim Martin, and according to Silva, "Bruno [chef and co-owner] will be running lots of specials.
"We have to clean out everything we can," she added.
Another lake-area restaurant has closed -- this one apparently for good. Mexico Viejo in Halesford Center on Virginia 122 in Moneta closed last week.
A second Mexico Viejo, located at Crazy Horse Marina off Scruggs Road in Moneta, still is open. It closes regularly during the off-season and reopens the first week of April.
