An Oldsmobile Sierra crashed into the Moneta Rescue Squad, Station 2, on Monday afternoon.

The driver of an Oldsmobile Sienna drove through the corner of a rescue squad building on Monday afternoon.

Pete Lewis, member of the Moneta Volunteer Fire Dept., which assisted, said a male who was alone in the car drove into the Moneta Rescue Squad, Station 2, located at the intersection of Virginias 122 and 24 in Moneta at 2:46 p.m.

The car entered from one side of the building, destroying a bathroom, and partially exited through another wall. Lewis said a Rescue Squad member was in the building at the time, but was not injured.

Virginia State Police spokesman Sgt. Rob Carpentieri said he understands the driver was transported to Bedford Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

On the water, there were no reportable accidents last week, according to Lt. Tony Fisher of the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries. He said the last reportable accident on the lake was on June 26, despite heavy boating traffic the past two weekends.
