Finz closes, boat slips in repair at Crystal Shores
Manager of Finz Bar and Grille filed for personal bankruptcy last month.
Finz Bar and Grille closed last month after almost one year in business. The restaurant, located at Crystal Shores Marina in Moneta, was managed by Smith Mountain Lake and New York businessman Rob Arigo.
"We lease the space out," said Scott Schlesser, general manager of Crystal Shores Marina. "The tenant gave us official notice he was closing the restaurant ... on July 30."
The notice came two days after Arigo filed a voluntary petition for personal bankruptcy, according to court documents.
Schlesser said Crystal Shores is not seeking a new tenant at this time. Instead, Schlesser said the focus is on rebuilding a row of boat slips that were destroyed in February when a roof collapsed under the weight of ice and snow.
Last week, Crystal Shores Marina received approval from Appalachian Power to rebuild the destroyed slips, said Schlesser. Construction by Smith Mountain Dock Building was expected to start on Aug. 10 and take 10 to 12 weeks to complete, he said.
"We're very excited to get this under way," said Schlesser. "They're going to be very, very nice docks when we're all finished."
He said they received approval to rebuild all 33 slips that were destroyed, but opted to rebuild 32.
"That was our own choice," said Schlesser. "That was basically so we can make optimal use of the space."
He said when the slips are completed, former boat slip renters will have priority if they want to return to the marina. After that, any unoccupied slips will have open availability.
