Lake Effects; to be shown again, released on DVD
The movie, which was filmed and set at SML, will be available for purchase Aug. 14.
For those who missed "Lake Effects" on television the first time, don't worry. The Hallmark Movie Channel will air the movie shot at Smith Mountain Lake several more times.
It will be shown tonight at 8 and 10 p.m.; Monday, May 14 at 4p.m.; Tuesday, May 15 at 2 a.m.; and Thursday, May 17 at 10a.m. and 8 p.m.
The Hallmark Movie Channel is different from the Hallmark Channel. Check with your cable provider for more information.
Those who don't have the channel or who want to add "Lake Effects" to their film collections can purchase DVDs later this summer. Anchor Bay Films this week announced "Lake Effects" will be available at retailers on Aug. 14 with a suggested retail price of $19.98.
The family comedy/drama, which is set and was filmed at SML last year, follows a big-city attorney who travels home to SML for the funeral of her estranged father. During her stay, she reconnects with her mother and sister, and learns what makes the lake special.
The cast of "Lake Effects" includes Emmy award-winner and two-time Golden Globe award-winner Jane Seymour, Scottie Thompson, Madeline Zima, Jeff Fahey, Eyal Podell, Casper Van Dien, Ben Savage, Sean Patrick Flanery, Mary Beth McDonough and Ron Canada.
"Lake Effects" features several area businesses and homes. The film's producer, Sara Elizabeth Timmins, lives in Moneta.
