Nominations sought for Citizens of Year

The Moneta Ruritan Club is seeking nominations for its annual Citizen of the Year awards to be presented at its dinner meeting on May 10.

Each year, the club recognizes a man and a woman who are currently performing, or have recently performed, valuable community service as a volunteer. Nominees may reside in Franklin or Bedford counties and their civic activity must have contributed to the betterment of the Moneta community.

Service in a paid position is not eligible nor are active Ruritan members and their family members.

Nominations of volunteers may be submitted by the public. The nominee's name, address, phone number and a description of the nature of the accomplishments and dates performed should be submitted by March 26 in writing to Moneta Ruritan Club, 3737 Hickory Cove Lane, Moneta, VA 24121.

Nominations will be reviewed by the club's Citizenship & Patriotism Committee and Board of Directors with the general membership voting on the two 2010 recipients at its April 12 meeting.
