Centra signs on as home tour's major sponsor
Several area businesses already have signed up as major sponsors for this year's Smith Mountain Lake Charity Home Tour.
Centra Medical Group, a Lynchburg-based health care business that serves lake-area residents through the Village Family Physicians and Cardiovascular Clinic in Moneta, will be the Royal Sponsor. Centra was a Diamond Sponsor last year but will assume the lead sponsor role with a $10,000 contribution.
"Their commitment is wonderful news," said Rosemary Drenne, sponsorship chairwoman. "We were without a Royal Sponsor last year, and it seemed as though we were playing catchup throughout the entire sponsorship campaign.
"Having Centra take this important role so early in our effort bodes well for what we'll be able to do for the participating charities this year. We are extremely grateful for the generous support,"she said.
"Centra Medical Group is excited to be a home tour sponsor for the fifth year running," said Mark Coleman, Centra managing director. "We understand the importance of giving to local charity organizations, which in turn support the residents of Smith Mountain Lake and surrounding communities."
Two pacesetting Gold Sponsors, Capps Home Building Center and Westlake Irrigation, have committed to $2,500 contributions.
The 23rd-annual SML Charity Home Tour will be held Oct. 11--13. Homes typically are announced in late March, and potential sponsors are contacted throughout the spring.
Proceeds will be divided among participating charities. This year, they are the Agape Center, Bedford Pregnancy Center, CASA of Central Virginia, Feeding America-SWVA, Free Clinic of Central Virginia, Free Clinic of Franklin County, Lake Christian Ministries and SML Good Neighbors.
