Smith Mountain Arts Council’s 24th annual John Faber Memorial Photo Contest and Show will take place April 12 through 14 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Moneta. All photographers — from amateur to professional levels — are encouraged to participate.
The photo contest serves to showcase the works of area photographers. Last year’s show featured more than 250 entries.
Cash awards will be presented for best in show, as well as the top three photos in eight categories. Categories include Smith Mountain Lake scenes, landscapes and seascapes, people, wildlife and pets, architecture, close-ups (macro or still life), digital manipulation and youth (age 18 and younger or enrolled high school students).
Based on votes by visitors to the show, a people’s choice award also will be presented.
The deadline for entries is March 29. Photographs must be delivered to Bethlehem United Methodist Church on April 8.
An awards reception, with entertainment and refreshments, will be April 12 at 6:30 p.m. The exhibit will be open April 13, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and April 14 from noon to 3 p.m.
