The Bedford County Sheriff's Office has arrested and charged a 56-year-old man with felony malicious wounding, the use of firearm in commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a felon following an incident late Monday night, according to Maj. Ricky Gardner in a news release.
Mark Edwin Turner was taken into custody at 1:50 a.m. Tuesday after he barricaded himself inside a home on Shepherd Lane between Moneta and Bedford.
At 11:30 p.m. Monday, deputies with the sheriff's office, along with Bedford Town Police, Virginia State Police and Virginia Conservation Police, responded to a report of shots fired at the home. Upon arrival, police found three people outside the home with injuries from the shooting that were not life-threatening, Gardner said.
Tactical response and negotiations teams from the sheriff's office were called in to assist after Turner had barricaded himself inside the home, Gardner said.
Once in custody, Turner was taken to the Blue Ridge Regional Jail in Bedford where he is being held without bond, Gardner said.
