The Smith Mountain Lake Association, an advocacy organization dedicated to protecting the lake’s water quality and promoting safe recreation, is seeking a volunteer to serve as a debris committee chairperson.

The role involves serving on the Appalachian Power debris committee, offering recommendations for where cleanup crews should focus their efforts and reporting that information back to the SMLA board of directors. The chairperson would also serve on the Take Pride in Smith Mountain Lake Cleanup planning committee and participate in the annual cleanup efforts, as well as encourage residents to participate in debris removal at the lake.

Anyone interested in serving should contact the Smith Mountain Lake Association at 719-0690 or email theoffice@smlassociation.org. The person selected for the role will receive a SMLA T-shirt and a lake map.
