Vicki Gardner, executive director of the Smith Mountain Lake Regional Chamber of Commerce, recently was presented the 2019 Virginia Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives Lifetime Achievement Award.
The award commends Gardner’s professionalism, friendship and service to the organization, an alliance of chamber executives from across the state, working together to improve the business climate while developing ways to enhance the quality of life in the communities they serve.
“To be recognized in this way by my peers, professionals I so admire and respect, is a true honor,” said Gardner, who served the organization as a board member, president, speaker, instructor and member of the annual conference planning committee. “I’m blown away.”
VACCE President Susan Spears and Joyce Waugh, Roanoke Regional Chamber CEO, presented the award to Gardner at the organization’s annual leadership conference in Fredericksburg in June.
Gardner will leave her post as executive director of the SMLRCC, a position she’s held since 2002, in August.
