Officials with the Bobby Scruggs Charitable Foundation have announced March 16 as the deadline for 2020 scholarship applications.

The $1,500 scholarships, which memorialize long-time NASCAR official and Roanoke resident James R. “Bobby” Scruggs, are awarded to students interested in pursuing careers in motorsports.

In 2019, the foundation awarded six $1,500 scholarships to Cameron Fisher and Maggie C. Huffman of Craig County High School, Joseph T. Craiger and Devyn T. Haynes of Bassett High School, Lauren Overfelt of Salem High School and Cami Parsons of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
