It was the end of an era earlier this year for the Little Slammers bridge group when longtime member and committee chair Dot Jackson announced her retirement.
Little Slammers is one of the oldest SML Newcomers special interest groups. It was formed in 1996 by neighbors Sherl Ruppert, Vonnie Carter and Kay Schmeding who wanted to play bridge together.
In 1998, when the group expanded from one to two tables, Jackson became a permanent member and eventually the committee chair.
During that time Little Slammers has epitomized the SML Newcomers’ vision of like-minded people getting together for fun and fellowship, which has continued for almost 25 years.
