With a below-freezing air temperature and water temperature in the mid-40s on New Year's Day, there were only five volunteers who participated in the 25th annual Polar Bear Ski Day, hosted by the SML Water Ski Club.

Since the tradition began, Todd Rowland is the only club member who has participated all 25 years. Tom Tanner said he thought he had participated either 23 or 24 years, but declared that at age 61, he definitely was the oldest. Rusty Richardson was the third longest participant, Tanner said.
