Westlake Tree Lighting

Santa will arrive by firetruck to the Christmas Celebration and Tree Lighting at Westlake Towne Center on Dec. 5.

The annual Christmas Celebration and Tree Lighting at Westlake Towne Center will be Dec. 5.

The event will begin with the arrival of Santa at 5:30 p.m. in a firetruck from the Scruggs Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department. Kids can have their pictures taken with Santa at Westlake Library.

Other festivities include live concerts by the Mark Dubbeld Family, Tate Tuck, Vitalize Church, Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy choir and the SML Harmeneers. EastLake Community Church youth group will also perform a portion of their Christmas program.

In addition, a live Nativity will be displayed by Vitalize Church, and there will be ponies dressed as Santa and an elf from Healing Strides of Virginia.

The tree lighting ceremony will take place at 7 p.m. At 7:45 p.m., The Willard Companies will hold drawings for gift cards and other prizes to Westlake Towne Center businesses. There is no purchase necessary, and participants must be present to win.

The first 150 visitors who donate a new, unwrapped toy or make a cash donation to We Care of Franklin County will receive a free ticket to a one-time-only showing of the 1989 Christmas comedy “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” at Westlake Cinema at 8 p.m.
