A 6-year-old girl has died after a Bedford County car crash that injured three others June 6, according to Virginia State Police.

The others, including an 8-year-old girl, were taken to the hospital after the two-vehicle crash in Moneta, Sgt. Rick Garletts said.

A 2016 Honda CRV was heading south on Hendricks Store Road about 5:40 p.m. when it crossed the center line and hit a 2004 Jeep Liberty head-on, he said.

The driver of the Honda — Ashley Nicole Holdren, 34, of Moneta — and the child passengers were taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where the 6-year-old died, according to Garletts.

Cheryl Lynne Smith-Clifton, 60, of Moneta was driving the Jeep. She was taken to the hospital, he said. Smith-Clifton and Holdren were wearing seat belts.

The investigation is still ongoing.
